Roasted Chickpeas Snack

Why are healthy snacks important?

While on a diet, it is essential to always carry snacks with you whenever those hunger pangs strike. It is an integral part of your dieting lifestyle, so do not forget about the importance of healthy snacks during weight loss.

What you snack on can make a big difference in how fast and how well you lose weight. Snacking can help stave off cravings and keep up your energy levels, as well as make sure that you're eating enough every day to sustain yourself.

The idea of having snacks with you at all times is to never let yourself get too hungry. Start snacking as soon as you get that 'I need food now' feeling. The longer you wait to eat something, the hungrier and more desperate you will become, and the more likely it is that you will overeat when you finally do put something in your mouth.

But in this case, the recipe that I'm going to share with you, you can't carry with you, but it's a healthy snack, perfect for in the middle of the day while you are waiting for lunch, for example. Do you know what chickpeas is?

You probably know chickpeas as garbanzo beans, and that's what they're called in many parts of the world. They are an excellent food for vegetarians and vegans, and everyone else. Scientists have shown that chickpeas are loaded with nutrients and minerals that can help to prevent diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Chickpeas are a truly versatile ingredient that can be served hot or cold at lunch or dinner. I love them as a snack and in salads, but they can also make dips and spreads such as hummus. Since they are so versatile, they are also very useful because you can prepare them ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to three days.

The great thing about chickpeas is that they take very little time to cook. You don't need to soak the beans overnight before cooking; it only takes 20 minutes. You can also buy them canned, which is really convenient if you're in a hurry.

If you're not used to eating them, it might take a little time for your body to get used to how they taste. They have a slightly bitter and distinctive flavor, which I find appealing. The more you eat them, the more your taste buds will adjust, and the softer their flavor will become.

Chickpeas are easy to prepare. You only need to wash the beans well and drain them before cooking them hot or cold. Then, you can keep them in their pods and store them in a cool, dry place until you're ready to cook them.

It's also easy to buy canned chickpeas because most supermarkets stock them in the canned vegetable section or near the lentils.

Healthy snacks are not just for losing weight but for your health.

No matter your goals, snacking can be a part of the equation. However, there are numerous risks involved in this process for some people. If you're overweight, it's not just about losing weight as you need to watch how many snacks you're consuming and make sure they count as healthy alternatives. Suppose you have high blood pressure or are on medication for medical conditions like diabetes or heart disease. In that case, it is vital to monitor your snack intake throughout the day to make sure that it doesn't cause a negative side effect. Snacking is a healthy option for many people, but it's essential to weigh the pros and cons of eating these snacks as often as you might want. In fact, according to a recent study by the University of British Columbia, snacking can actually be one of the best ways to lose weight — even if you're on a diet and have added exercise to your routine.

Research shows that snacking in between meals can help you lose weight faster and be healthier. However, if you are eating unhealthy snacks, this can actually be the opposite of what you're trying to achieve. That is why it's crucial to understand how your body works and what the best type of snacks are for your overall health. Many people opt for healthier foods like fruits and vegetables, trail mix, or crackers to munch on throughout the day.

About this recipe

You need 30 minutes to make this easy and healthy snack.

You need chickpeas, lemon juice, paprika, garlic, and coriander.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (medium temperature).

I used canned chickpeas, which I put in a sieve and rinsed with water, and allowed to drain so that there was as little water as possible.

Then, put the chickpeas in a large tupperware and add the spices, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, and coriander.

Mix everything very well. Then place on a lined baking sheet to be ready to go in the oven. Let it bake for 30 minutes, but halfway through, I advise you to spread or stir the chickpeas.

When it's ready, I decided to put the olive oil at the end, but you can choose to put it before it goes to the oven. It's as you like!

And it's done! Super healthy and delicious.
